We are excited to invite you to our creative studio, the home of Yes I'm a Designer. You will see all the equipment we use, server setup, backup solutions, applications we use every day, as well as the gears we use for filming videos and courses. We will also share bonus tips on ways to relax and generate new creative ideas!
We want to make it clear from the beginning that this post is not about showing off or bragging about the kit and workspace. The aim is to give you some ideas and tips and maybe to inspire you to create your own studio or a creative space where you feel inspired and excited to spend hours designing!

The key to setting up a productive desk!
Comfortable Chair
Designers spend most of their working day sitting down, so it is essential to invest in an ergonomic chair that will support your back (lumbar support is key). Avoid armrests on chairs; they just get in the way. Your hands should be free, especially for drawing and sketching.
Spacious Desk
The deeper and wider the desk, the better! designers tend to use lots of equipment, sketch pads and screens. Give your desk enough breathing space, keep it organised and avoid unnecessary clutter. Make sure you tidy up your desk at the end of each working day so that you look forward to coming back to a clean and organised desk.
Straight Posture
To avoid dry eyes, keep a reasonable distance between your eye and the screen. Keeping a distance will also help to prevent slouching and backache (I keep finding myself getting too close to the screen at times, tensing up my neck muscles). Your shoulders need to be relaxed, and your lower arm should be straight.
Well-lit Room
We are a big fan of natural lighting. It is not only going to brighten up your mood, but will also aid your sight. Having said that, no strong light source should be above or near your screen to avoid reflection on the screen.
Avoid having your desk set up where there is a window behind you. If your room doesn't get much natural light, then it is better to have dimmed light scattered around than to have one strong light source.
Here are some examples of dark, cluttered, and disorganised office spaces. Do these look uninviting? Probably not. Although some people can work in a chaotic workspace, keeping your workspace neat, calm, and organised will help you be more productive and creative.
