We recently got our hands on one to test it out and compare it to other similar products. Now we want to share our findings so you guys can decide if it's the right product for you.

WACOM Cintiq 22 - Review

This new product is more affordable than the high-end Cintiq Pro line, there are some significant trade odds worth mentioning but it certainly offers that unique Wacom drawing experience. It still comes with a $1,200 price tag so budget might not be the right word but it is more affordable. 

Specs:

• Display Size / Resolution 21.5 inch (54.6 cm) / Full HD 1920 x 1080.

• Active Area 18.7 x 10.55 inch (476 x 268 mm.)

• Anti-glare film (coating) to reduce reflections and low parallax for accuracy.

• Connectivity HDMI port, standard USB port.

• Pro Pen 2 with 8,192 pressure levels and 60 degrees of pen tilt recognition.

• Drawing angles: 16-82 degrees using included Wacom Adjustable Stand.

• Supports Vesa 100 x 100 for mounting.

• Weight 12.3 lbs without stand (around 5.5 kg) without stand.

This product has a great amount of active space for drawing, you can comfortably have panels etc open in the Adobe Applications and still easily see and navigate your art work.  

However don't be fooled into thinking you can easily take this with you to work remotely its hefty weight means once it's set up you probably want to leave it in the same spot to work on. However there is the 15 inch option which does weigh less and is more portable if that's what you are looking for.

Differences between Cintiq 22 & the Cintiq Pro versions:

• The original pro model has a 4K/UHD display which is 4x more pixels than the 22 model. This difference is definitely noticeable especially if you are used to working in such high resolution. However it is something you start to not notice after using the product for a period of time. 
• There is a anti-glare film on the new Cintiq 22 which actually feels great to draw on.
• Laminated screen (reduced distance between the glass and screen below it, resulting in lower parallax)
• ThePro line has a screen made from etched glass  which gives it a better durability and more paper-like texture however we didn't actually miss that textured feel as the anti-glare coating steps in and takes it's place.

Pros

• The stand is included when you purchase the product (unlike in the Pro version) and it is easy to adjust and offers a wide range of angles. It can even act as a normal monitor set upright.

• There is a big drawing area without the Cintiq taking up too much desk space. This means you can keep other equipment on the same desk.

• It comes with the Wacom Pro Pen 2 - the best pen/stylus in the business. It's pressure sensitivity etc is incredible and a joy to use.

• Quick setup, nothing to fiddly or frustrating. You can get straight down to creating. 

• ExpressKey Remote compatibility - this means if you already own one remote you can use it for this new product.

• Cables are nicely tucked away to the side under a latch. 

• Pen holder on the side of the product  (with extra nibs and nib remover inside.) This makes it harder to loose that amazing pen! 

Cons

• The Full HD screen can feel too low resolution for such a big screen at close distance. 
  
  
• Anti-glare coating used on the screen feels good but slightly dulls colours - especially in comparison to the iPad pro.
  
  
• No magnet on sides for ExpressKey Remote, this leaves it floating a little.
   
• No pen stand which would be nice to have while you are working and want to quickly pop the pen somewhere safe. We found it did manage to roll of the table a few times.
  
  
• HDMI and USB connectors. No one likes loads of wires.
  
  
• Quite heavy, not ideal for travelling with - if you do want something you could move around maybe go for 15 inch but this still wont be as flexible as an iPad would be.
